Generator Installation

Generator installation allows your home to safely receive power during an outage, helping keep essential systems running when utility power is unavailable.

• Portable generator inlet – A generator inlet is installed on the outside of your home and allows you to plug in a portable generator. It’s called an inlet because power is being brought into the house. This option lets you power selected circuits when needed.
   

• Standby generator systems – These are permanently installed generators that automatically turn on when power is lost. Standby systems can be sized to power essential circuits or your entire home.
   

• Manual vs. Automatic transfer switches
   

  • An automatic transfer switch detects when utility power goes out and switches to generator power automatically.
     

  • A manual transfer switch requires you to manually switch from utility power to generator power during an outage.
     

Generators can be powered by natural gas or propane, depending on your home and preferences.
