Generator Installation
What Is It?
Generator installation allows your home to safely receive power during an outage, helping keep essential systems running when utility power is unavailable.

There are a few different generator solutions depending on your needs and how you want the system to operate:

-
Portable generator inlet – A generator inlet is installed on the outside of your home and allows you to plug in a portable generator. It’s called an inlet because power is being brought into the house. This option lets you power selected circuits when needed.
-
Standby generator systems – These are permanently installed generators that automatically turn on when power is lost. Standby systems can be sized to power essential circuits or your entire home.
-
Manual vs. Automatic transfer switches
-
An automatic transfer switch detects when utility power goes out and switches to generator power automatically.
-
A manual transfer switch requires you to manually switch from utility power to generator power during an outage.
-
Generators can be powered by natural gas or propane, depending on your home and preferences.
